Senior NPD Engineer – Wiring Harness | APQP & PPAP

About the Role

Celestix Industries is looking for a Senior NPD Engineer (New Product Development) with experience in wiring harness manufacturing to support end-to-end new product development activities.

The role involves reviewing customer drawings and technical specifications, preparing Bill of Materials (BOM), coordinating Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation, developing prototypes and samples, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely product development and successful project execution.

We are looking for a hands-on Wiring Harness Engineer who understands both the engineering documentation and practical manufacturing requirements involved in taking a new wiring harness project from customer requirements through prototype development, validation and development completion.

Key Responsibilities & Required Skills

1. New Product Development (NPD) & Customer Drawing Study

• Study and interpret customer drawings, wiring harness schematics and technical specifications.
• Review customer requirements and engineering documentation to support new product development.
• Use AutoCAD for wiring harness layouts and drawings.

The candidate should have strong skills in drawing interpretation, customer drawing study, technical specification review and new product development within the wiring harness industry.

2. Bill of Materials (BOM) Preparation & Engineering Documentation

• Create and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) for new wiring harness development projects.
• Prepare and maintain relevant engineering documentation.

Experience in BOM preparation, BOM creation and engineering documentation is important for ensuring that new product development activities are accurately documented.

3. APQP & PPAP Documentation

• Prepare and coordinate Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation.
• Prepare required PPAP documents, including:
  • Process Flow Diagram (PFD)
  • Control Plan
  • Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
  • Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)

Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP preparation, PPAP documentation and structured product development processes is an important requirement.

4. Prototype Development, Sample Development & Validation

• Support prototype development and new wiring harness builds.
• Coordinate sample development and preparation for new products.
• Support prototype and product validation activities.

The role requires practical understanding of prototype development, sample development, prototype builds and validation within wiring harness manufacturing.

5. NPD Project Tracking & Cross-Functional Coordination

• Coordinate with customers and internal cross-functional teams to support new product development.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills for customer and cross-functional coordination.
• Support project leadership and NPD timeline tracking.
• Coordinate development activities to ensure timely product development and project execution.

The candidate should be comfortable with project tracking, milestone tracking, customer coordination and cross-functional project coordination to keep development activities on schedule.

Qualification

Bachelor's degree in:

• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Electronics Engineering

Relevant NPD experience in wiring harness manufacturing is required.

Experience

Minimum 2+ years of experience in the wiring harness industry, with relevant exposure to new product development activities.

Candidates with practical experience in wiring harness NPD, APQP, PPAP, BOM preparation, prototype development and project tracking are particularly relevant.

• Wiring Harness Manufacturing: Practical experience with wiring harness products and manufacturing requirements.

• PPAP: Experience preparing Production Part Approval Process documentation, including PFD, Control Plan, DFMEA and PFMEA.
• AutoCAD: Proficiency in preparing and working with wiring harness layouts and drawings.
• Prototype & Sample Development: Experience supporting new harness builds, prototype preparation and validation.
• Project Tracking: Ability to monitor NPD timelines and coordinate development activities.
• Customer Coordination: Strong communication skills for working with customers and internal departments.
