About the Role
Celestix Industries is looking for a Senior NPD Engineer – Wiring Harness to support end-to-end new product development activities for wiring harness projects.
The role covers customer drawing and specification study, Bill of Materials (BOM) preparation, APQP and PPAP documentation, prototype and sample development, validation, project tracking, and coordination with customers and cross-functional teams.
The candidate should have 4–6 years of overall experience, including at least 2 years of relevant experience in the wiring harness industry, with the technical capability to take new projects from initial customer requirements through development and project execution.

Key Responsibilities
New Product Development & Project Execution
- Support end-to-end New Product Development (NPD) activities for wiring harness projects.
- Understand customer requirements and convert them into structured engineering and development activities.
- Coordinate project activities from initial drawing review through prototype development and validation.
- Track NPD schedules, milestones and deliverables.
- Manage multiple development projects while meeting agreed timelines.
Drawing Study & Technical Interpretation
- Study and interpret customer drawings, schematics and technical specifications.
- Understand wiring harness layouts and product requirements.
- Identify technical requirements that affect materials, components, manufacturing and validation.
- Clarify technical requirements with customers or internal teams where necessary.
BOM Preparation & Engineering Documentation
- Prepare accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for new wiring harnesses.
- Maintain engineering documentation associated with new product development.
- Ensure specifications, drawings and BOM information remain accurate and controlled throughout the development cycle.
APQP & PPAP Documentation
- Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities for new projects.
- Prepare and coordinate PPAP documentation.
- Develop and maintain relevant documents including:
- Process Flow Diagram (PFD)
- Control Plan
- DFMEA
- PFMEA
- Ensure required development and quality documentation is completed according to project requirements.
Prototype & Sample Development
- Coordinate prototype development and new harness sample builds.
- Work with Production, Quality and Engineering teams during sample manufacturing.
- Ensure prototypes accurately reflect approved customer drawings and specifications.
- Support prototype inspection, testing and validation.
- Coordinate modifications where development issues are identified.
Wiring Harness Validation
- Support validation of newly developed wiring harnesses.
- Review samples against applicable customer specifications and drawings.
- Coordinate corrective actions where prototype or validation issues arise.
- Ensure development concerns are resolved before moving projects forward.
AutoCAD & Engineering Drawings
- Use AutoCAD for wiring harness layouts, drawings and related engineering work.
- Review and update drawings where required during the development process.
- Ensure engineering drawings accurately communicate product and manufacturing requirements.
Engineering Change Management & Documentation
- Support engineering changes during product development.
- Ensure changes are reflected accurately in drawings, BOMs and related engineering documents.
- Coordinate changes with affected cross-functional teams.
- Maintain appropriate documentation discipline throughout the development process.
Customer Coordination
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding technical requirements and development activities.
- Coordinate clarification of drawings, specifications and engineering requirements.
- Support customer discussions related to prototypes, samples, documentation and project execution.
- Maintain clear communication on development status and technical issues.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with relevant functions involved in product development to ensure projects move forward according to plan.
Coordinate engineering and development requirements across applicable teams such as:
- Production
- Quality
- Engineering
- Purchase
- Other project stakeholders
Strong communication and coordination are important because the role requires multiple departments to work together during product development.
Problem Solving & Cost Optimization
- Apply structured problem-solving during product development.
- Identify practical solutions to engineering and development issues.
- Support opportunities for product and process cost optimization.
- Consider manufacturability, quality and project requirements while resolving development challenges.
Project Leadership & Timeline Tracking
- Maintain visibility of development schedules and project milestones.
- Follow up with responsible teams on pending NPD activities.
- Identify potential delays or technical bottlenecks.
- Support timely completion of samples, documentation and validation activities.
- Take ownership of assigned projects and development deliverables.
Required Experience
- 4–6 years of overall experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in the wiring harness industry.
- Relevant experience in New Product Development.
- Experience interpreting wiring harness drawings, schematics and customer specifications.
- Experience preparing BOMs and engineering documentation.
- Practical exposure to APQP and PPAP documentation.
- Experience with prototype and sample development.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects and development timelines.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in:

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate combines strong wiring harness knowledge with structured New Product Development experience.
The person should be able to receive a new customer drawing or specification, understand the technical requirements, develop the BOM and required documentation, coordinate prototype manufacturing, support validation and follow the project through the development cycle.
The candidate should also be comfortable coordinating with customers and multiple internal departments while maintaining strong documentation discipline and managing several projects against deadlines.
Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, attention to detail, teamwork and an ownership mindset are important for this role.

Success in this role means new wiring harness projects move efficiently from customer requirements to validated product development.
Drawings and specifications should be understood correctly, BOMs and APQP/PPAP documentation should be accurate, prototypes should be developed and validated on schedule, and technical or cross-functional issues should be identified and resolved before they delay project execution.
The Senior NPD Engineer should provide clear ownership of assigned development activities and help ensure new wiring harness products are launched with accurate engineering documentation and effective coordination between the customer and internal teams.
