Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Tool Design & Development Manager for our
newly established Copper Cable Lugs & Sheet Metal Division. The candidate should be capable of
independently designing, developing, and improving tooling for copper terminals, cable lugs, sheet metal
components, and progressive dies.
The person should have hands-on knowledge of:
Progressive die design
Sheet metal tooling
Copper component manufacturing
Press tool development
2D & 3D design using AutoCAD and SolidWorks
The candidate will be responsible for complete tooling development from concept to production support.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop:
o Progressive dies
o Compound dies
o Piercing & bending tools
o Forming tools
o Copper lug tooling
o Sheet metal press tools
Create:
o 2D manufacturing drawings
o 3D models and assemblies
o Tool layouts and strip layouts
o BOMs and tooling documentation
Develop tooling for:
o Copper cable lugs
o Copper terminals
o Sheet metal brackets / Sheet metal components
o Battery lugs
o Busbar components
Optimize material utilization and reduce production cost.
Coordinate with:
o Production team
o Tool room
o Quality department
o Vendors and machine suppliers
Support trial production, troubleshooting, and tool modifications.
Ensure tooling meets production targets related to:
o Tool life
o Productivity & Cycle time
o Quality
Handle new product development activities.
Guide junior designers and tool room technicians.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of:
o Progressive die design
o Press tool design
o Copper forming process
o Sheet metal manufacturing
o Stamping operations
Software proficiency:
o AutoCAD with 2D Drawing & 3D Modelling
o SolidWorks with 2D Drawing & 3D Modelling
Knowledge of:
o Tolerance standards
o GD&T (Geometric Dimension & Tolerance)
o Material selection
o Strip layout optimization
o Press calculations
o Tool steel selection
Experience in handling power press tooling and high-volume production.
Ability to independently solve tooling and production issues.
Qualification
BE Mechanical / Tool Engineering / Diploma
Tool & Die Making certification preferred
Experience
Minimum: 5–10 years
Preferred industry experience:
o Copper cable lug manufacturing
o Electrical terminals
o Sheet metal stamping
o Progressive die manufacturing

Strong practical knowledge of tooling development
Hands-on shop floor experience
Leadership and team management capability
Good communication and vendor coordination skills
Ability to establish tooling systems for a new manufacturing division
