About the Role

Celestix Industries is looking for an experienced Training & Skill Development Manager to establish and lead employee training and skill development initiatives at its manufacturing facility.

The role will be responsible for building a structured training ecosystem that improves workforce productivity, quality, safety, competency and employee development.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience training manufacturing labour and blue-collar employees, setting up or managing government-approved skill development centres, and implementing or administering digital Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Key Responsibilities

Government Skill Development Initiatives

  • Establish and manage a Gujarat Government-approved Skill Development Centre.
  • Liaise with government departments and organisations including Kaushalya – The Skill University, Gujarat Skill Development Mission (GSDM), NSDC and other relevant authorities.
  • Obtain required approvals, accreditations and certifications.
  • Manage government documentation, reporting, audits and compliance requirements.
  • Identify and apply for applicable government grants, subsidies and skill development programmes.

Factory Workforce Training

  • Develop structured induction programmes for new employees.
  • Train blue-collar employees across manufacturing, production, quality, maintenance, stores and safety functions.
  • Create skill matrices for different job roles.
  • Monitor workforce competency levels.
  • Develop refresher training programmes to improve productivity and reduce quality defects.
  • Conduct classroom, on-the-job and practical hands-on training.
  • Evaluate employee competency through written and practical assessments.

Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Select, implement and administer a Learning Management System.
  • Digitise training materials including SOPs, work instructions, videos, quizzes and assessments.
  • Track employee training completion, certifications, competency levels and retraining schedules.
  • Generate training reports and dashboards for management.
  • Coordinate with IT and department heads to continuously improve digital learning content.

Training Content Development

  • Prepare training manuals, SOPs, presentations, videos and work instructions.
  • Develop multilingual training content, with English, Hindi and Gujarati preferred.
  • Create visual work instructions suitable for shop-floor operators.
  • Standardise training documentation across departments.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure training programmes comply with applicable ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Support IATF 16949 requirements where applicable.
  • Support IPC/WHMA-A-620 requirements where applicable.
  • Support applicable OSHA / EHS and customer-specific training requirements.
  • Maintain complete training records and supporting documentation.
  • Support customer audits and certification audits related to employee competency.

Skill Matrix & Competency Mapping

  • Develop and maintain skill matrices across relevant manufacturing functions.
  • Map employee competencies against job requirements.
  • Identify skill gaps across departments.
  • Track competency improvement after training.
  • Maintain updated training and certification records.

Training Needs Analysis

  • Conduct Training Needs Analysis (TNA) across departments.
  • Work with Production, Quality, HR, Engineering and Management to identify capability gaps.
  • Prioritise training requirements based on operational needs.
  • Develop annual training calendars based on identified skill gaps.

Continuous Improvement

  • Measure training effectiveness using relevant KPIs.
  • Evaluate the impact of training on productivity and quality.
  • Monitor rejection and rework reduction attributable to improved employee skills.
  • Recommend continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen workforce capability.
  • Continuously improve training methods, materials and delivery systems.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with Production, Quality, HR, Engineering and Management.
  • Coordinate training schedules without unnecessarily disrupting manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure department heads have visibility of employee training progress and competency levels.
  • Support departments in closing identified training and skill gaps.

Required Experience

  • 5–10+ years of experience in manufacturing training and skill development.
  • Proven experience setting up or managing Gujarat Government, NSDC or GSDM skill development centres.
  • Experience training factory operators and blue-collar workforce.
  • Experience implementing or administering a Learning Management System.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and shop-floor operations.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across Production, Quality, HR, Engineering and Management.

Candidate Background

Experience in the following manufacturing sectors is preferred:

  • Electrical manufacturing
  • Cable manufacturing
  • Wiring harness manufacturing
  • Electronics manufacturing
  • Automotive manufacturing

The candidate should have practical experience working directly with factory operators and blue-collar employees rather than only handling corporate training.

Key Performance Indicators

Performance in this role will be measured through:

  • Successful establishment of the Gujarat Government Skill Development Centre.
  • Percentage of workforce trained and certified.
  • Training completion rates.
  • Competency improvement scores.
  • Reduction in quality defects and rework attributable to training.
  • LMS adoption and course completion rates.
  • Government compliance and successful audit outcomes.
  • Completion and ongoing maintenance of employee skill matrices.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate combines practical manufacturing knowledge with strong training, documentation and digital-learning capabilities.

The person should be comfortable working directly with shop-floor operators while also coordinating with government authorities, department heads and senior management.

The candidate should be capable of building the training function from the ground up rather than simply administering an existing programme. This includes establishing systems, developing content, creating competency frameworks, implementing an LMS and setting up the government-approved skill development centre.

Strong presentation, communication and documentation skills are essential.
