Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Pins NPD Engineer to lead the development of new precision pin products for electrical, electronic, automotive, and industrial applications. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in product design, tooling development, process optimization, and new product industrialization for brass, copper, phosphor bronze, and other precision-machined or cold-formed pins.
The candidate will work closely with Design, Tool Room, Production, Quality, and Customers to ensure successful product development from concept through mass production while meeting quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
Key Responsibilities
New Product Development
- Develop new precision pin products from customer drawings and specifications.
- Evaluate product feasibility and manufacturability.
- Prepare product development plans and project timelines.
- Support prototype development and sample submissions.
- Drive product validation and approval processes.
Product & Process Engineering
- Design and optimize manufacturing processes for precision pins.
- Develop process flow diagrams and work instructions.
- Optimize production cycle time and material utilization.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
- Support engineering changes and product modifications.
Tooling Development
- Coordinate the design and development of:
- Header tools
- Punches
- Dies
- Forming tools
- Cutting tools
- Inspection gauges
- Validate tooling before production release.
- Monitor tool performance and recommend improvements.
Manufacturing Support
- Provide technical support during trial production.
- Resolve production-related technical issues.
- Improve process capability and productivity.
- Minimize rejection, rework, and downtime.
- Support continuous process improvement initiatives.
Documentation
Prepare and maintain:
- Product drawings
- Process sheets
- Control plans
- PFMEA
- BOMs (Bill of Materials)
- SOPs
- Engineering Change Notes (ECNs)
- Technical specifications
- Product validation reports
Quality & Validation
- Coordinate First Article Inspection (FAI).
- Support PPAP documentation (where applicable).
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure products comply with customer quality requirements.
- Work closely with QA during validation and production.
Cross-Functional Coordination

Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of precision pin manufacturing processes.
- Minimum 4-5 years of relevant experience
- Experience in new product development for electrical or automotive components.
- Understanding of cold forging, turning, stamping, or pin manufacturing.
- Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawings.
- Experience with tolerance analysis and dimensional control.
- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Validation.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Tool Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience may also be considered
