About the Role

Celestix Industries is establishing a new manufacturing campus in Falna, Rajasthan, with dedicated sheet metal fabrication and industrial manufacturing facilities.

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on CNC Laser Cutting Machine Operator who can independently operate CNC fiber laser cutting machines, prepare cutting programs, optimize sheet nesting and manufacture precision sheet metal components.

The candidate must have practical knowledge of laser cutting parameters, CNC machine operation, CAD/CAM nesting, engineering drawings, material handling and cutting quality control.

Sheet nesting and material utilization are especially important for this position. We want someone who can plan cutting layouts intelligently, minimize sheet metal wastage and achieve maximum material utilization while maintaining production quality.

Experience operating Dolphin 3 kW CNC fiber laser cutting machines with a 1500 × 3000 mm cutting bed will be an added advantage.

This is a hands-on machine operation position requiring technical independence, attention to detail, production discipline and an understanding of sheet metal fabrication.

Key Responsibilities

1. CNC Fiber Laser Cutting Machine Operation

  • Independently operate CNC fiber laser cutting machines for sheet metal production.
  • Perform machine start-up, reference setting and daily operational checks.
  • Select appropriate cutting parameters based on material type, thickness and grade.
  • Adjust laser power, cutting speed, frequency, focus position, nozzle height, assist gas pressure and piercing parameters as required.
  • Load and unload metal sheets using appropriate material-handling methods.
  • Monitor machine operation to ensure consistent cutting quality and production output.
  • Identify machine alarms, operating abnormalities and cutting-related problems.
  • Follow approved production schedules and job priorities.

2. Sheet Nesting & Material Utilization – Most Important

The candidate must have practical experience in sheet metal nesting and CAD/CAM cutting layout preparation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and modify cutting programs using available CAD/CAM nesting software.
  • Perform independent sheet nesting to maximize material utilization and minimize scrap.
  • Arrange components efficiently within available sheet dimensions.
  • Optimize component orientation, spacing and cutting layouts.
  • Understand the effect of kerf width, cutting clearance and material thickness on nesting.
  • Use available sheets and reusable offcuts efficiently.
  • Reduce unnecessary material wastage through improved nesting layouts.
  • Verify nesting programs before releasing them for cutting.
  • Coordinate with Production and Engineering when drawing or layout changes are required.

Candidates must understand how to achieve maximum component yield from each sheet, rather than simply loading pre-prepared programs into the machine.

3. Cutting Program Preparation & Drawing Interpretation

  • Read and interpret 2D engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and cutting layouts.
  • Work with DXF and DWG cutting files.
  • Import cutting files into CNC machine software.
  • Verify dimensions, material specifications and quantities before production.
  • Prepare or modify cutting programs using the available CAD/CAM software.
  • Identify drawing or programming discrepancies before cutting.
  • Coordinate with Engineering or Production when clarification is required.

4. Sheet Metal Material Handling

Operate the machine for cutting materials including:

  • Mild Steel (MS)
  • Stainless Steel (SS)
  • Galvanized Steel (GI)
  • Aluminium
  • Other compatible sheet metal materials, depending on machine capability

Responsibilities include:

  • Verify material grade, thickness and sheet dimensions.
  • Ensure correct material is selected for each production order.
  • Handle sheets carefully to prevent surface damage.
  • Maintain identification of raw materials, cut parts and reusable offcuts.
  • Minimize material damage and unnecessary scrap.

5. Laser Cutting Quality Control

  • Inspect cut components for dimensional accuracy and edge quality.
  • Identify burrs, dross, incomplete cuts, excessive heat effects and dimensional variations.
  • Verify critical dimensions using suitable measuring instruments.
  • Perform first-piece checks before continuing batch production.
  • Adjust permitted cutting parameters to correct common cutting defects.
  • Identify rejected components and coordinate corrective action.
  • Ensure finished parts meet approved drawings and production requirements.

6. Machine Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform routine cleaning and daily machine checks.
  • Check nozzle condition, protective lenses and machine consumables according to operating procedures.
  • Monitor assist gas supply and cutting performance.
  • Identify abnormal machine behavior and cutting problems.
  • Report breakdowns and technical issues to the Production Supervisor or Maintenance team.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance activities.
  • Maintain machine and work-area cleanliness.

Major repairs, electrical work and specialized maintenance will remain with authorized maintenance personnel.

7. Production Planning & Reporting

  • Follow daily production plans and cutting schedules.
  • Complete assigned jobs according to production priorities.
  • Monitor material consumption and cutting output.
  • Record production quantities, rejection, scrap and machine downtime.
  • Identify delays and inform the Production Supervisor.
  • Coordinate with subsequent sheet metal fabrication operations.
  • Maintain accurate machine operation and production records.

8. Machine Safety & 5S

  • Follow all applicable CNC laser cutting machine safety procedures.
  • Use required personal protective equipment.
  • Follow safe material loading and unloading practices.
  • Ensure machine guards, interlocks and safety devices are used correctly.
  • Maintain safe handling and storage of metal sheets.
  • Follow approved procedures for gas cylinders and assist gas systems.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and 5S standards.
  • Report unsafe conditions immediately.

Required Experience

  • Practical hands-on experience operating CNC fiber laser cutting machines.
  • Ability to independently set up and operate a laser cutting machine.
  • Experience with sheet metal cutting and material handling.
  • Ability to read 2D engineering drawings and DXF/DWG files.
  • Knowledge of laser cutting parameters and cutting quality.
  • Practical experience preparing and optimizing sheet nesting layouts.
  • Ability to prepare or modify cutting programs using CAD/CAM nesting software.
  • Basic machine troubleshooting and quality inspection skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience operating Dolphin CNC fiber laser cutting machines.
  • Familiarity with 3 kW fiber laser machines with 1500 × 3000 mm cutting beds.
  • Experience cutting mild steel, stainless steel, galvanized steel and aluminium.
  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication or precision component manufacturing.
  • Good understanding of nesting optimization and material scrap reduction.

Prior Dolphin machine experience is preferred but is not mandatory for candidates with strong CNC fiber laser cutting and nesting skills.

Qualifications

  • ITI in Machinist, Fitter, Sheet Metal or a related trade.
  • Diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
  • Equivalent practical CNC laser cutting machine experience may also be considered.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who can independently receive a DXF cutting file, understand the component dimensions, select the correct sheet material, prepare an efficient nesting layout, set the cutting parameters and produce accurate sheet metal components.

The right candidate should not depend entirely on a programmer or supervisor for routine nesting and cutting operations.

For example, if several different components need to be cut from a 1500 × 3000 mm sheet, the candidate should be able to arrange them efficiently to maximize usable output while respecting cutting clearances, part quality and material requirements.

The most important requirements are independent CNC fiber laser operation, accurate cutting and strong sheet nesting capability to reduce material wastage.
